Randall Allen Fleming was born on March 30, 1953 at Baylor Hospital in Dallas, Texas. He was the beloved son of Martha Nell and James Allen Fleming. He passed away peacefully with family by his side on August 3rd, 2026.
Randy, also lovingly known as Rambo, was a man of many talents. He could fix anything, and if you ever needed a helping hand, he would drop whatever he was doing, toolbox in hand. He refused payment but would accept a cold beer, a hug and call it even.
Randy worked for the City of University Park in the engineering department for 28 years. His engineering
brain helped make sure projects were seamless and perfect while his undeniable wit and charm helped
reassure neighbors and residents that the construction “wouldn’t take too long.”
He met the love of his life, Jackie at a Bennigan’s in Dallas, where he famously recounts the story and says it was“ love at first sight.” They were married on May 9, 1981,beginning a lifelong partnership grounded in love and laughter. Their marriage is a testimony of strength, resilience, and deep rooted respect. Randy adored Jackie so fiercely, so unapologetically, that whether he knew it or not, he set the prime example for his children of what a husband should be.
After hearing the call of the Holy Spirit, Randy converted to Catholicism in April of 2009. He studied the faith, fell in love with the traditions and prayed daily for the people in his life. He lived his life devoted to his wife, his children, his grandchildren and his Catholic faith.
Randy was a caring father to three children, Erin Swain (Chris) of Frisco, Joni Reed (Adam) of Plano, and Coulter Fleming (Leah) of McKinney.
In addition to his children, he also had four grandchildren who lovingly called him Grambo. Abigayle (14), Brock (12), Sloane (8) and Anna (8) will miss him fiercely but will also keep his memory alive in the hundreds upon hundreds of hilarious stories that will live on forever.
Randy spent most of his time taking care of his yard, (the most beautiful on the block,) his beloved pond full of fish, each individually named by him, and walking his loyal companion, Jack Russell Terrier, Dude. He fulfilled his lifelong dream of owning a lake house in his favorite escape, Hot Springs, Arkansas. He was an expert boater and spent hours pulling his grandkids behind the boat on the tube.
Randy had many friends, he never met a stranger and he always made sure you had a seat at his table. Whether it was a quick “stop and chat” or a deep philosophical conversation, you left feeling like the most important person in the room. People of all walks of life were drawn to his charisma, his sense of humor and his smile. He could talk to you about nothing and everything all at once, and never judged or had an unkind word to say about anyone. Even when they deserved it.
Randy lived an amazing and full life. While his body is gone from this earth, his precious, sweet soul will live on forever. To have known Randy is to have experienced true love, true kindness, true laughter and true friendship. If you were blessed enough to share a cocktail with him, listen to some great music and simply BE in his presence, you can consider yourself one of the lucky ones. Randy is preceded in death by his mother and father, Martha Nell and James Allen Fleming, as well as his brother Mike Fleming.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, August 28th at 2:00 p.m. at Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Plano, Texas.
