Frances Bernero Maiorino

December 9, 1929 - December 10, 2015
Frances Bernero Maiorino, age 86, of Plano, Texas passed away on December 10, 2015. She was born on December 9, 1929 in Memphis, Tennessee to Dorothy Gladys (Durbin) and Elbert Bernero. Frances was an Accountant.
 
Frances is survived by her seven children, Ronald V. Maiornio of Plano, Texas, Karen L. Maiorino of Garland, Texas, Susan G. Maiorino of Garland, Texas, Cynthia A. Maiorino of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Toni M. Macaluso of Plano, Texas, Christopher B. Maiorino of Carrollton, Texas and Shawn V. Maiorino of Knoxville, Tennessee; fourteen grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; numberous nieces, nephews and cousins.
 
Frances is preceded in death by her daughter, Cheri F. Maiorino; father of her children, Vincent A. Maiorino; five sisters and one brother.
 
A Memorial Service Mass will be held at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 2700 Spring Creek Parkway, Plano, Texas 75023, on Friday, January 8 at 3:00 p.m. with Father Russ Mower, presiding.  Reception is in the Seton Room.

Linda Lee Bell
January 6, 1947 - December 22, 2015
Linda Lee (Barlow) Bell died peacefully on December 22, 2015, after a valiant fight against vascular dementia.

She is preceded in death by her parents Betty and Bill Barlow.  She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Mike Bell, their daughters, Kristy, and Karen and her husband Johnny, and their son Michael Jr. and his wife Katie.   Also her brothers, Tom and Bill Barlow, and her sister, Carol Huffman.
Linda was born January 6, 1947 in Kansas City Kansas. She grew up in Overland Park, Kansas attending Bishop Miege High School. She graduated in 1964 and attended Donnelly College in Kansas City,  Kansas.
She met her husband, Mike, when she was in 7th grade.  After a wonderful courtship, they were married in June 1965 after his graduation from college and commissioning as a second lieutenant in the US Marine Corps.  Upon returning from their honeymoon they departed for Quantico, VA, where Mike attended the Marine Corps Basic School.
For the next 26 years she supported her husband wherever he was assigned and set up their home over their 16 moves and raised their three children, Kristy, Karen and Michael Jr.
During the time she served at her husband’s side, she actively served as a volunteer as a: Red Cross aide, volunteer for Navy Relief, Thrift Shop Manager and in almost every community served in, one of the ministries of their local chapel and/or Catholic parish, including a CCD (Sunday school) teacher, leader in Children’s Ministry, and Director of Religious Education.
In 1991, after her husband retired from the Marine Corps, they moved to Plano, Texas, where they lived until 2010.  Linda became an active member of the Community of St Elizabeth Ann Seton and later joined the staff first in Children Ministry and later was promoted to Director of Community Life – position that she served in for 8 years.  Linda retired in July 2009.
Linda  enjoyed many activities including swimming, skiing (both water and snow), walking, reading,  and traveling – including visiting most of the countries of Western Europe, multiple trips to Hawaii and the Far East – including Hong Kong and Okinawa.  But most of all she enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
In October 2010, she and her husband moved to Whitney, Texas, and have enjoyed the beauty and peace of the country and their wonderful friends in the White Bluff Community—where they lived until she died.
Services will be at St Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Plano, TX.  The Vigil is on Tuesday, December 29 at 7:00 p.m., Mass of the Resurrection on  Wednesday, December 30 at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be at the Dallas-Ft. Worth National Cemetery at a later date.
In lieu of Flowers donation can be made to the American Stroke Association or Providence Hospice of Whitney, TX.

Mary Ann (Karalus) Brochetti
M ary Ann (Karalus) Brochetti, 79 of Plano, TX, formerly of Dunkirk, NY, passed away peacefully on December 8, 2015, at her home in the loving arms of her children after a brief courageous battle with cancer.
Mary Ann was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother.  She is survived by her children Richard Jr. (Brenda), Susan (Robert) Kolodziej, Joanne Boyce all of Plano, TX, and Linda (John) Kirby of Frisco, TX, along with 6 adoring grandchildren.  She is also survived by her dear friend, Charles Zeller of Plano, TX, and cousin, Daniel Purzycki (Dee) of Florida.  She is preceded in death by her husband (Richard J.) of 51 years and her parents Harriet and Frank Karalus.
Mary Ann was born February 11, 1936, in Dunkirk, NY.  She graduated from Saint Mary’s Academy in 1954, and attended Fredonia State University. Mary Ann was employed by Niagara Mohawk until she started her family and became a full time wife and mother.  Her community service included volunteering at her children’s schools and at her church.  She later became a licensed real estate agent and sold residential homes.  Mary Ann and her husband (Dick) owned and operated “Central TV” in Dunkirk, NY, for over 25 years until they moved to Plano, TX, in 1990.  Shortly after arriving in Texas, they opened “Just VCR”.
Family was most important to Mary Ann; she loved and adored her husband, children and grandchildren.  She was kind and generous, a beautiful woman inside and out.  Mary Ann never met a stranger. She was a caring and friendly woman with a great sense of humor.  She loved to have fun and thoroughly enjoyed life, with a passion for traveling, playing cards, going to musical events and concerts, but most importantly, spending time with her family and friends.
Mary Ann’s passion for life brought a lot of light to the many lives she touched.  She will be greatly missed.
Memorial services will be held at 1:30 P.M., on December 19th, 2015, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church in Plano, TX

Janet Hawkins
February 17th, 1938  ~  December 6th, 2015
Janet was born February 17, 1938 a proud New Yorker to William and Jean (Carey) Quinn. She realized early on that she had a passion for helping people and she went on to earn her degree in nursing. She was a dedicated registered nurse her whole career. Toward the end of her career, she was a dedicated Hospice nurse. Many people were touched by her loving care. Janet loved her family and friends. She moved to Florida in 1989 to be near good friends and the beach she loved so much. She also loved a “good bargain” at Ross! She was a wonderful mother and friend and she will be missed dearly.

The family wishes to thank the team at Premier Home Living where she has lived for the past few years. Very special thanks goes to Dave Pollack and Dr. Jill Studley, along with the all caregivers whose love and care kept her comfortable and content for the last few years. Also, thanks to all of our family and friends for their support and kind thoughts. Janet is survived by her daughter Patti Goodwin (Glenn), grandchildren Danny and Audrey Goodwin, brothers William T Quinn (Susan) and Thomas R Quinn (Irene), nieces and nephews Stephen, Elizabeth and Jonathan Quinn.

The Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated on Saturday, December 19, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 2700 W Spring Creek Pkwy, Plano, Texas. There will be a reception in the Parrish Hall immediately following the mass. If desired, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association ( www.alz.org) in memory of Janet Q. Hawkins

Glenn Patrick Messner
March 17, 1953 – November 15, 2015
Glenn Patrick Messner, age 62, of Fairview, Texas, passed away November 15, 2015. Glenn was born March 17, 1953, in Nyack, New York, to Howard R. and Betty Jane (Anderson) Messner. He married Joan Zimmerman on May 25, 1975, in Tappan, New York. Glenn graduated from Pace University in Westchester, New York. He was a member of the Tappan Volunteer Fireman’s Association while in New York. Glenn was the owner of Creative Shutters and Universal Motion Screens. He was also a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Men’s Club and served on two city boards associated with the City of Fairview. Glenn was a member of St. Jude Catholic Church in Allen, Texas.

He is survived by his wife, Joan Messner of Fairview, Texas; daughters, Christine Messner, Maureen Messner, and Jessica Culbertson and husband, Shawn, all of Fairview; son, Michael Messner and wife, Cheryl of McKinney, Texas; grandchildren, Alyssa Messner, Payton Messner, Cadence Culbertson, Dylan Culbertson, Kayleigh Culbertson, Brody Messner, and Alexis Messner, sisters, Kyle Messner of Phoenix, Arizona and Taryne Lewey of Austin, Texas; brother, Kim Messner of Newport News, Virginia and David Messner of Paradise Valley, Arizona; and numerous other loving relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, November 20, 2015, at St. Jude Catholic Church in Allen, Texas. The family will receive friends during a visitation from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m., Thursday evening with a rosary beginning at 7:00 p.m., at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Allen, Texas.

Stephen Anthony Filipski
October 8, 1949 ~ November 7, 2015
Stephen Anthony Filipski died Saturday, November 7th, 2015 in Chicago, Illinois while visiting his beloved grandchildren. “Big Steve” was born on October 8, 1949, the oldest of seven children of Leonard and Marie Filipski.   He graduated from Elmhurst College, where he met the love of his life, Linda Gorgo Filipski.  
An outstanding athlete, Steve was a member of the inaugural Bluejay Backer Hall of Fame class in 1980.  He lettered in both football and men’s track and field.  He was the Elmhurst College Athlete of the Decade for the 1970s.  He was an extremely passionate man and along with athletics, he loved cooking.  Constantly working on his culinary skills, nothing made him happier than being able to cook for family and friends. 
A consummate salesman, Steve was the owner of a national rep business.  His longest and most important career was his 43 year marriage to Linda Filipski.  Together they had three children, Kelly Spowage of Chicago, Illinois, Matthew (Jennifer) of Plano, Texas and Jonathan (Cara) of Frisco, Texas, as well as five grandchildren, Connor, Katie, Carsyn, Thatcher, and Colby, all of whom hold him in loving memory.  He is also survived by his parents Leonard and Marie Filipski of Sandwich, brothers Michael (Lurene) of Wayne,  David (Denise) of Elburn,  and sister Barbara Gardine (Jim) of Paw Paw, all of Illinois, brothers Gary of Fort Worth, Joseph (Tina) of Carrollton, both of Texas, and sister Diane Vermilye (Ron) of Colombia, South Carolina.  Steve also had nine nieces and nephews.      
Larger than life, both in stature and personality, he lived each day as if it were a gift.  He maintained a lifelong dedication to his family and friends.   A finer man, son, brother, husband, father, Uncle, and grandfather there never was.
A memorial Mass and celebration of his life will take place at 10 a.m. Saturday, November 14th, 2015 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Plano, Texas. Internment in the Seton Columbarium immediately after the mass.  Reception to follow in Room 130 of the Seton Faith Formation Center.

Thomas M. DuRoss
April 14, 1951 - November 8, 2015
Thomas M. "Dewey" DuRoss was born on April 14, 1951 to Joe and Alice DuRoss in Los Angeles, California. He passed away suddenly on November 8, 2015 after a day spent with people he loved. He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Jim. He is survived by his beloved wife of 36 years, Kathryn M. "Kass" DuRoss; his four children, Annie (Kevin Babuder), Tommy (Nicole), Matthew, and Neil; his siblings Neil, Kathleen, Joe, Danny, and Paul; his grandchildren, Patrick and Claire; numerous nieces, nephews, and in-laws; and countless friends, all of whom will sorely miss his warmth and sense of humor. A native of Los Angeles (Loyola High '69, Loyola University '74),

Tom spent the last 28 years making a home for his family in Plano, Texas. He was sustained in life by his strong Catholic faith and the love of his family. He was good at poker and great at making friends. He never had a bad day.

A viewing and rosary will be held on Thursday, November 12 at St. James Catholic Church in Redondo Beach at 7:00 p.m. The funeral will be at St. James on Friday at 10 a.m.

A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton on Friday, November 27, at 10:00 a.m. in the chuch.  Reception in the Parish Hall, hosted by the Seton Men's Club.

Mildred Dalbke
September 3, 1923 ~ November 3, 2015
She walks in beauty, like the night of cloudless climes and starry skies;
and all that's best of dark and bright meet in her aspect and her eyes.



Mildred Margaret Dalbke was released from her earthly bonds Tuesday, November 3rd, 2015. Mildred was born September 3, 1924 in North Chicago, Illinois. Her parents were Stephen and Katie Miletich. Mildred lived the majority of her life in North Chicago and graduated from Waukegan High School. She later graduated from Patricia Stevens Modeling School in Chicago, Illinois. Mildred married Charles E. Dalbke Jr. in 1946, who preceded her in death in 2009 as did her brother Steve who died in 1983.

During World War II, Millie was employed at Great Lakes Naval Station and then at Abbott Laboratories where she worked on the ampule line. She danced in the Abbott revues that were held each year and thoroughly enjoyed entertaining people. Millie also worked in the office at Abbott's and spent several years at National Press Inc. She later sold retail women clothing and worked for Whitehall Jewelers as a top salesperson.

Millie could light up a room with her personality and grace. She also was a devoted daughter and took care of her parents for many years. In 1992, she moved to Texas along with Charlie to be near their daughter and son. Millie loved her family, her Croatian heritage, and her Catholic faith. She loved to dance and spent many happy hours dancing with Charlie at the Swedish Glee Club in Waukegan.

She is survived by her son, Steve Dalbke of Dallas, Texas, daughter, Sandi Nenninger and her husband Tom of Plano, Texas; granddaughter, Susan Hazzard and husband Tim of Allen, Texas, grandson, Brad Nenninger of Allen, Texas and great-grandchildren Jack and Maggie Hazzard.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, November 7th at 1:00 P.M. at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, 2700 West Spring Parkway in Plano. A visitation will be held from 12:00 P.M. to 1:00 P.M. prior to the Mass.

Our thanks and gratitude go to the staff at Prestonwood Assisted Living where Millie resided for the last six years. Their care and kindness was much appreciated. Internment will take place at Ascension Cemetery, Mundelein, Illinois. The family requests that in lieu of flowers donations be given to Planned Living Assistance Network of Dallas, Texas

Robert BT Thomas, Jr.
December 1st, 1947  ~  October 22nd, 2015


Robert “B.T.” Edward Thomas, Jr. passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 22, 2015 in Dallas, Texas. B.T. was born in Baltimore, Maryland where he graduated from Catonsville High School in 1966. His passion for golf started at an early age when he worked as a golf caddy in Maryland. He later enjoyed a 25-year career as a PGA Golf Professional which began in Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, as the Head Golf Professional for The Country Club of Hilton Head, Director of Golf for The Golf Club at Indigo Run and The Golden Bear Golf Club. In 1998, B.T. transferred to Brookhaven Country Club of Dallas where he dedicated 10 years to the success of tournament operations and member and charity golf events.

He loved coordinating and hosting the annual member golf trips to Hilton Head and the Masters Golf Tournament. He was the Director of Golf with Prestonwood Country Club of Dallas from 2008 to 2013. B.T. served on the Club Corp National Golf Committee and as President of the Hilton Head Island Golf Professionals Association. He also served on the teaching staff of Hilton Head Island Junior Golf Academy and enjoyed mentoring countless junior and beginner golfers throughout his career.

In addition to his passion for golf, B.T. loved his family and friends (furry friends included), good music (The Eagles), his beautiful plumeria plants, vacationing in Maui and spending time with his beloved wife Dena and dog Bentley. Those who knew B.T., described him as the nicest, kindest and most caring person they have ever met. B.T.’s positive presence was felt wherever he would go. His warm and magnetic personality, quick wit and great sense of humor lived up to his 6 ft. 4 in physique. B.T. was a pillar of strength whom is loved by all.

B.T. was preceded in death by his mother Dorothy Thomas, brother Larry Thomas, sister Joan Millenburg, nephew Derek Millenburg and loving dogs (black labs) Jake and Harley. B.T. is survived by his loving wife Dena Thomas of The Colony, Texas, daughter Cindy Thomas of Phoenix, Arizona and son Brent Thomas of Hampstead, Maryland, grandchildren Brittany, Brent Jr. and Kristin Thomas and beloved dog and “best friend” Bentley. He is also survived by his treasured nieces and nephews Donna Thomas Smith, Brenda Thomas Spencer, Larry Thomas Jr., Greg Millenburg, Dena Millenburg Baxter and Karen Millenburg Lancaster. B.T. is deeply missed. He will live in our hearts forever.

The family will receive friends at a visitation from 6-8 PM at Allen Family Funeral Options on Monday, October 26, 2015. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, October 27, 2015 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 2700 W. Spring Creek Pkwy., Plano, Texas 75023 with a reception to follow. Interment will be at Restland Memorial Park in Dallas, Texas.

Lenore Ann Maitre
June 28th, 1929  ~  October 17th, 2015


Lenore Ann Maitre was born June 28, 1929 in Coon Rapids, Iowa to parents Francis and Eunice Drake and she passed away on October 17, 2015 in Plano, Texas. Her last days were spent peacefully and surrounded by family at her daughter and son in law’s home in Plano, Texas where she lived for the past 14 years.

She grew up on the family farm near Coon Rapids, Iowa along with her younger sister, Gayle and brother, Doug. Lenore attended a country school for her elementary years and moved into town to live with her grandparents when she started high school. She graduated at sixteen and shortly thereafter moved to Des Moines, Iowa where she worked and eventually was introduced to Dwain Maitre. They were married on April 15, 1950. The two of them built a small rambler on the northwest side of the city and lived there for the next 55 years.

Lenore and Dwain raised two daughters, Diane and Debra. They made lifelong friends in their neighborhood and at St. Mary of Nazareth Catholic Church where they were very active. Dwain worked at John Deere in Ankeny, Iowa and after the girls were in school, Lenore worked part time as a sales clerk for a florist in Des Moines. Upon their retirement Lenore and Dwain became official snowbirds and spent their winters in Brownsville, Texas. Lenore loved her time in Brownsville - walking everyday, golfing, exploring the area, getting together with friends, dancing at country club events, and hosting her daughters’ families during their children’s’ spring breaks from school. In November, 2002, Dwain had a debilitating stroke. He entered an assistant living facility near Deb’s home in Plano. Lenore moved in with Deb and Mike and she faithfully spent her days at Dwain’s side for the next four years.

After Dwain’s death, Lenore continued living with her daughter and son-in-law. She became involved in activities at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church and enjoyed getting together with the friends she met there. As she adjusted to life without Dwain, Lenore began spending time again at her Brownsville winter home. There, she reconnected with old friends and made new ones. She was thrilled when her sister-in-law, Joan, was able to fly down to share a few weeks of winter respite with her each year. Several times a year, Lenore also traveled to Minnesota to visit her daughter, Diane, and to Iowa to visit extended family and old friends. Lenore was especially happy to be able to accompany Diane and family on two memorable trips to London, England and Florence, Italy. She also enjoyed a wonderful Alaskan cruise with both daughters’ families in June, 2012.


Lenore is survived by her daughters, Diane Grasse (Peter) of Woodbury, Minnesota and Debra (Michael Richards) of Plano, Texas; four grandchildren, Martin and Claire Grasse and Bryan (Lindsey) and Gregory (Martha) Richards; her brother, Douglas Drake (Carolyn) of Johnston, Iowa along with nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. Lenore is preceded in death by her husband - Dwain Maitre; her parents - Francis and Eunice Drake; her sister Gayle Force and her brother-in-law - Donald Maitre and father and mother in law, Jule and Della Maitre. She will be missed by many, especially her daughters, sons-in-law and grandchildren, who are so grateful for her love and guidance throughout their lives.

A Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated Friday, October 23, 2015 at 10:30 AM at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 2700 W Spring Creek Pkwy, Plano, Texas 75023 with Father Russ Mower, officiating. A reception will follow immediately after the mass in the Parrish Hall. Lenore will be laid to rest with her husband Dwain at the Dallas-Ft.Worth National Cemetery. If desired, memorials may be made to Baylor Medical Center at McKinney – McKinney Nursing Education Fund #56190- 5252 W University Drive, McKinney, TX 75071- to honor the nurses who cared so compassionately to her during her short illness.

Nemesio Cava Jr
September 27th, 1937  ~  October 8th, 2015


Nemesio Cava Jr. was born in the Philippines in the province of Zambales. He was the youngest of 11 children. He had fond memories of his early youth in the Philippines often recalling swimming in the ocean and greeting the American soldiers after the war with "Hi Joe" as some of them showered the kids with candies and treats. As he grew up, his siblings one by one started immigrating to the US, most through US military service. Often at the receiving end of gifts from his siblings coming home to visit, he could have continued a very carefree life, until meeting his future bride by chance.
His cousin came to visit one day on the way to a wedding which was near his home. The cousin was traveling with his wife and a friend. The friend's name was Nieves. It was love at first sight. He continued to court Nieves until they wed May 9, 1965.

He was working as an accountant at a general auditing office at the time. Soon after, they had their first child and within 5 years had 3 children. Sometime after their second child, Nemesio decided to immigrate to the US. It would mean leaving his new family behind but it would be for what they called back then as the "green pasture". Whatever the name, it was for a better future for his wife and children, for which he now wanted nothing but the best for. So in 1969, while Nieves was pregnant with their third child, Nemesio left the Philippines for the US. He lived with his cousin in Jersey City, NJ working as an accountant in NYC while he waited for the petition to bring his family over to be approved. Finally, in 1973 his wife was able to immigrate but by herself. It was another 2 years before the children could come. He was finally reunited with his family completely in September 1975, his eldest being 9 years old. They moved to Passaic Park, NJ in 1977, where they lived until moving to Plano, TX in 1988, when JCPenney's, where Nieves worked, relocated their corporate office.

They went on many road trips while living in NJ, often to visit family who were scattered all over the continent, from Minnesota, to Canada, to Philadelphia, to California and Florida. He was legendary when it came to directions, sometimes recalling detailed streets and landmarks, visiting some place for the second time years after being there the first time. Family was very important to him but so were the many friends they met both in NJ and Texas. As his children grew and married, he became increasingly active in the Filipino and Catholic communities and organizations. Always side by side with his wife, they were active in Couples for Christ, FilAm Catholics of Dallas, PRDC as board member, GIFT Prayer Group, as usher for St. Elizabeth, Mabuhay Filipino Folk Dance group as dancer, monthly Filipino masses as lead coordinators, annual Christmas Simbang Gabi Novenas as lead coordinators, weekly Our Lady of Perpetual Help Novena as lead coordinators. All the while attending numerous parties, galas, and dances, where it was found that he was also a legend on the dance floor, tango and boogie, being his two favorite dances, later to be rivaled by line dancing. Often times lady friends lining up to dance with him.


When not busy with organizations, he loved to fish, golf, and most of all garden. Vegetables often made it into his wife's cooking. And flowers and ponds were abounding in his garden. Friends and family who would come to their home would wonder how being in his garden somehow reminded them of the Philippines. They also loved to travel. Once retired, they traveled to Egypt, Rome and many other places in Europe.

By his 75th birthday, his 3 children had married and between them, Nemesio had 9 grandchildren ranging in ages from 17 to 5. Which leads to his best talent of all. He was so loved by all his grandchildren; often just the thought of Grandpa brought a smile to their faces. He loved to carry them as they were babies and he loved to sit them on his lap on the swing and many times he pulled them on the wagon as they got bigger. As they got old enough to talk, he often teased them and joked with them. To the very end, when the illness was already resulting in some pain and he was already very tired, the one thing that could always put a smile on his face was the sight of a grandchild. His very last moments were spent not just with his wife and children and children's spouses, but also with all his 9 grandchildren all around him. He was surrounded and showered with overwhelming love as he finally left us to rest in peace.

Nemesio is survived by his wife Nieves Cava, children Norayda Humphrey and her husband Russell, Nelson Cava and his wife Alona, Nemesio Cava, III and his wife Kaima, grandchildren Frances, Leonard and Claire Humphrey, Rachel, Nichole and Zachary Cava, Kaitlin, Matthew and Kristine Cava, brother Eugene Cava and sister Juanita De los Reyes.

A vigil will be held Thursday, October 15, 2015 at 7:00 p.m. at St Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 2700 W Spring Creek Pkwy, Plano, Texas 75023. The Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated Friday, October 16, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church with Father Bruce Bradley officiating.

Engracia Amadore Pascua
May 7, 1916 - October 1, 2015
Our beloved mother, Engracia Amadore Pascua, was called to her eternal home while surrounded by her loved ones on October 1st of 2015, at her home in Plano, Texas. She was born on May 7th of 1916 in Samar, Philippines, to Jose and Raymunda Amadore.

Engracia grew up in Calbayog city and moved to Manila in the 1940’s.  She worked as a checker/ ticket employee at a local movie theatre. She went to Dressmaking School and had her own Dress Shop business sewing custom made clothing.

Engracia married Gaudencio Pascua, Sr. in January 20, 1947 in Manila, Philippines. They were happily married for 46 years until his death in 1992. Engracia was a member of Catholic Women’s League in Quezon City, Philippines until she migrated to Stamford, Connecticut, in 1981 with her husband.  She enjoyed sewing, geriatric dancing, playing mahjong, casino trips and caring for her grandkids. She also loved to watch boxing and basketball on TV. When the weather started to get cold, she knew football season was around the corner and would proclaim “Bangaan na naman”. This translates to “let’s get ready to rumble”.

Engracia is survived by her daughters Irene Velasco, Gloria Domingo, and Zenaida Millan; her sons Gaudencio Jr., Cesar, and Alfredo Sr.; grandchildren; great grandchildren; nieces and nephews and other relatives.

Engracia was preceded in death by her husband, parents, siblings Angeles and Francisco, children Leoba, Loreto, Jesus, and Angelita.
A visitation will be held at Distinctive Life Funeral Home at 1611 N. Central Expressway , Plano, TX 75075 on Sunday, October 4, 2015 from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm. The funeral Mass of the Resurection will be held at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton in Plano, Texas on Wednesday, October 7, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. in the church.

Nanay Engracia will surely be missed by everyone whose life she had touched. She shared and lived 99 years of her life showing the value of family, faith, hope, and love. And she did it all with Grace

Maryjane Newberry
July 30, 1939 - September 15, 2015 
Maryjane Newberry died September 15, 2015 as a result of a fatal car accident. We know Maryjane is in heaven with the Lord and her beloved Mary. 

Maryjane was born to an Italian father and Polish mother in Morristown, New Jersey on July 30, 1939.  She grew up in Morris Plains, attended the Fairleigh Dickinson University Business School, and became a Medical Assistant. 

In 1960, Maryjane attended the Army Navy game where by a stroke of luck, she met her life long love, Jim.  A wave and a wink is all it took to spark the relationship.  Jim and Maryjane were married at the Naval Academy Chapel on June 8, 1963.  Jim was commissioned and started his flying career in the US Air Force and later with Delta Airlines.

During their 52-year marriage, Maryjane raised 3 children and was active in a plethora of commitments both in and outside of the home.  She worked at the Dallas Apparel Mart managing 2 show rooms.  While her husband Jim was flying, she car-pooled the kids to sports, music, and dance.  She coached children’s soccer and she was active in the PTA.  Later she continued her involvement at University events at St. Edward’s, Texas A&M, and helped lead the A&M Mother’s Club. Meanwhile, she helped maintain a family farm and raise cattle in Bryan, Texas.  

Her love of travel started when she was young, taking her first transatlantic flight to Europe when she was 18. Maryjane accompanied Jim on his flights to every major city in the US and Europe.  Throughout her husband’s career she traveled the world and loved to sail in the Caribbean, Greece, Bermuda, and Tonga.  After Jim retired they bought a boat and created their own adventures in Dallas and on Lake Lewisville.

As a devout Catholic she was active in the choir and raised money over 4 decades for countless charities and organizations including Wadley Hospital, St. Rita, All Saints, and St. Elizabeth Ann Seton to name a few.

At Wadley Hospital she raised money for Leukemia with the Wadley Woopie, served as the Financial Chairman, and the Decoration Chairman.  At St. Rita she was a member of the Welcome Committee and led an annual Spaghetti Dinner themed event.  Most recently at St. Elizabeth Ann Seaton, Maryjane led the Lenten Fish Fry kitchen crew for the past 11 years.

Maryjane loved children and over the years adopted 3 families as her own: Thuy Thai and daughter Daphne; Jack and Lisa Theis, and children JT, Jake, Catherine and Christina; Randy and Karen Markum and daughter Paige. 

Maryjane is survived by her husband Jim, children Jamie, Nancy and Julie, and grandchildren, Jenna, Derek, Anneliesa, and Arianna.  Maryjane proudly claims all of the children from her adopted families as her own, totaling 10 children that call her Gamme. 

Services will be held at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton in Plano, Texas on September 26, 2015 at 11:00 AM.  In lieu of flowers, please send donations to The Maryjane Memorial Fund, which will be distributed equally to the charities that she loved.  Make checks to Jim Newberry and send to P.O. James Charles Bormann
January 29, 1953 - August 28, 2015

James Charles Bormann passed from this world on August 28, 2015. He was born on January 29, 1953. James was the second of five children born to Vern and Zita (Fandel) Bormann in Whittemore, Iowa. James graduated from Garrigan High School in 1971 in Algona, Iowa. He married Bonnie Bailey on November 22, 1975 in Dallas, Texas.

Jim had a successful career in the construction business. He enjoyed spending time with his family and fishing. Jim was a beloved husband, father, brother, and friend and will be deeply missed by his family and friends .
 
James is survived by his sons Lee Bormann, Craig Bormann and his fiancé Amanda Dickson, his father in law, John T. Bailey, Sr., and four sisters, Rebecca Lancaster of Whittemore, Iowa, Kathleen Schnieder and her husband Tim of Whittemore, Iowa, Julie Block and her husband Rex of Williams, Minnesota, Mary Allen and her husband Jim of Rosemount, Minnesota and foster sister Carol Besch and her husband Bob of Frisco, Texas, his brother in law John Bailey Jr. and his wife Jan and his brother in law Ed Bailey and his wife Joan. He was preceded in death by his wife Bonnie Bormann, his parents Vern and Zita Bormann, mother in law Madeline Bailey and his brother in law Bob Lancaster.

The Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated on Friday, September 4, 2015 at 10:30 AM at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 2700 W. Spring Creek Pkwy., Plano, Texas 75023 with The Reverend Bruce Bradley as Celebrant . There will be a reception immediately following the service at the church.

Thomas Van Dinter Joe Bollinger was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.  He married his wife, Irma Galindo, on November 24, 1965 at Christ the King Catholic Church in Lubbock, TX. He was a 1960 graduate of Athens High School and a graduate of Texas Tech University. He served in the Air National Guard from 1964 to 1970. Afterward, he worked for General Dynamics, Ralston Purina, and Clark Equipment before becoming the Physical Plant Director at South Plains College in Levelland, TX. In 2003, he retired after 22 years with the college. In 2012, he and his wife moved to Frisco, TX to live closer to their children and grandchildren. Throughout his life, he generously donated his time to various community organizations and his church.


He loved gardening, tinkering, watching the news, RVing with his wife, and working in his workshop. He enjoyed spending his time with his grandchildren and great-children, who were his greatest joys. He was a very honest man who always spoke his mind. He enjoyed meeting new people everywhere he went. He will be missed for his knowledge, humor, and his dedication to his family and loved ones.

Joe passed away on July 7, 2015 in his home, under hospice care, with his loving wife by his side. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Irma; sons Robert and his wife Becky of Frisco, TX; Joe and his wife Julie of Arlington, TX; and daughter Marisa George and her husband Patrick of Plano, TX; his grandchildren Samantha Suhler, Shanda Griffon, Tyler and Tori Bollinger, Andi and Michael George, and by his great-grandchildren Stone Griffon and Sam and Max Suhler.


A memorial mass will be celebrated in his honor on Monday, July 13, 2015, at 11:00am at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 2700 W. Spring Creek Parkway, Plano, Texas, 75023. If desired, contributions may be made in his name to South Plains College or to the Myelodysplastic Syndrome Foundation ( www.mds-foundation.org).

Rebekah Morgan Bushnell
December 15, 1997 – June 1, 2015


I was born with CHARGE Syndrome and Deaf-Blindness, but that is not what defined me.  I was awesome at Tae Kwon Do, gymnastics, rock climbing, and the cupid shuffle.  I could communicate with people even if they don’t know sign language.  Life was so joyful, that there was rarely a time I did not smile.
I adored my big sister, Caitlyn, who accepted my uniqueness from day one.  She was so amazing that even at age six, she was able to give an accurate and complete medical history to my Emergency Room doctors.  I loved that she would allow me to hang out in her room even when she was a teenager, and didn’t complain when she had to paint over my design on her wall mural in her room.
Colton is my big, little brother.  I wasn’t sure why mom brought him home in the first place, but he soon became my best friend.  I am sure God gave him to me to push my boundaries.  I learned to crawl, walk, and run to get away from him, but then I used those skills to keep up with him.  Even though they were usually his ideas that got us put in time out, I had a wonderful time getting into trouble with him.
My grandmother, ChiChi, was always ready to take me on my next adventure.  Being the free-spirit that she is, she tried to allow me to do whatever I wanted and to “express myself,” even when she had to hold her breath while I did it.

I helped Mom achieve her dream of practicing medicine, even if she never got a license.  Instead, she got her PhE (Parent having Experience.)  She never allowed my limitations as an excuse for not doing my best, even if I wasn’t happy about it. 
It is impossible to sum up how so many people touched my life, but I am grateful for each and every person’s presence in my life.  God sent each of you to me at exactly the time when I needed you.  Words can never express the love I feel for each and every one of you, so recognize my love for you in every song of a bird, every smell of flowers, every taste of ice cream, each flash of lightening across the sky, and each touch of the wind across your cheek.

There will be a Memorial Mass to remember this special girl, daughter of Kimberly Murick and Scott Bushnell, and to celebrate her uniqueness, on Monday, June 8, at 11:00am in the church.  There will be a Rosary at 10:00am in the chapel.  Reception will follow in the Seton Room of the Parish Activity Center.

Sylvia Curlin Boyd
June 4, 1936 - June 2, 2015
Sylvia Curlin Boyd, 78, passed away peacefully June 2, 2015 in Plano, TX. Sylvia was born on June 4, 1936 in Tampa, FL to Muriel Fox and Roger B. Curlin, Sr. She was happily married to Albert L. Boyd, Jr. for 57 years.
 
They have one daughter, Cynthia Boyd Coley and husband Tony, two grandchildren, Jennifer Coley Youssif and Alexander B. Coley, and one great granddaughter, Layla Alexandra Youssif.
 
Family was the most important thing in Sylvia's life. Nothing made her happier than to be surrounded by family, especially when she cooked for them. She was co-owner with her husband of Baby Town in Ft. Myers, FL for 23 years. 
 
She was a loving and caring wife, mother and friend. She will be greatly missed.

Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00pm, Thursday, June 4, 2015, at Sparkman Richardson Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 10:30am, Friday, June 5, 2015, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 2700 W. Spring Creek Pkwy, Plano, TX 75023. Burial will follow at Restland Memorial Park.

Carole Marie Porta
December 11, 1939 – May 18, 2015

Carole Marie Porta was born Dec 11, 1939, in Brooklyn, NY to the late Rose (Agatone) and  James Cerchione.

Carole grew up in the Borough Park section of Brooklyn and attended New Utrecht High School. She met her future husband, the late Artie Porta, at a family wedding and they were married on November 7, 1959, at St. Francis De Chantal Church in Brooklyn. They continued to live in Borough Park until 1977, when they moved to the Marine Park section of Brooklyn.While her daughter, Denise Merrill, was in elementary school, Carole was a Girl Scout leader and was also involved with the St. Francis De Chantal PTA.

Several years after Artie passed away, Carole moved to Plano, TX in 1996 to be with her daughter Denise, her son-in-law Tim, and to watch her grandchildren, Kevin and Carley, grow up. The biggest change in her life came when she started to drive for the first time after moving to Texas. She worked for JC Penny in their catalogue department for sixteen years, retiring in 2012.

 Carole was an active parishioner at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church in Plano, TX where she was involved with the shawl ministry, women’s club and RCIA. She was a volunteer at Waterford Assisted Living in Plano, TX doing arts and crafts with the residents. Carole’s life revolved around food. She enjoyed going out to lunch and dinner with her friends and would host movie nights, cooking dinner, at her house. What brought her the most joy was cooking Sunday and holiday dinners for her family. Special occasions would mean her fried calamari.

In addition to her daughter, son-in-law and grandchildren, Carole is survived by many loving family members.

A mass of Christian Burial was held at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church in Plano, TX on May 22, 2015 with interment following at the church’s columbarium.
