Whether you were married by a judge, within another Christian tradition, or in a ceremony that did not follow Catholic form, Convalidation is an opportunity to begin a new chapter of unity, blessing, and spiritual growth.
Choosing to have your marriage Convalidated is more than a formality. It is a commitment to invite God into the heart of your relationship. Couples often pursue Convalidation because they:
Wish to receive the Sacraments, especially the Eucharist, without obstacles
Want to have their marriage fully recognized by the Catholic Church
Desire to strengthen their spiritual foundation as a couple
Feel called to begin or return to an active life of faith
Seek God’s grace to support their family, relationship, and future
Convalidation is a meaningful step that honors both your love story and your faith journey.
All couples seeking Convalidation, regardless of which parish will celebrate the ceremony, are required to complete a Convalidation Workshop. You do not need to be a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton to attend.
This workshop helps couples understand the Church’s vision for marriage and prepares them spiritually and practically for the Convalidation process. It also ensures that the necessary steps and documentation are completed smoothly.
